Hi Guys! Brandi here. Just a quick little post that I am going to start doing every Wednesday. I get asked ALL the time by my seniors and their moms what they should wear for their session. I am going to start with the basics-Textures, Layers + Accessories. Its OK to dress up a little (or a lot) for your senior session, but I say leave the plain white t-shirt at home.
Adding some fabulous textures to any outfit can make it look like your spent a lot of time really planning your outfit. Though it does take a little bit of thought, the end result is FABULOUS! The key to textures is to start with one key piece and start adding.
Layers aren't just for winter. These are some amazing layered looks for spring. If you are concerned with your waistline, top your look off with a fitted belt around the waist.
Don't forget your accessories!! Nothing completes an outfit like the PERFECT accessory. And I am not just talking about earrings and bracelets; hats and headpieces (like bottom middle) are going to be HUGE this season. While you may not want to wear a headpiece in all of your pictures, one look with a headpiece is very much ok! I encourage all of my girls to plan one outfit that is very trendy and fun. Another big trend this year will be the cute graphic shirts (far right) and statement necklaces.
BKP Studio + Keeneland
Pro Hair and Makeup: Allison Johnson of PinkLouLou
Clothing: Rent the Runway (Gold dress is a studio dress)
Models: Olivia, Katie, and Maria
A couple of weeks a go I held my 2nd EVER Senior Model Shoot. Last year was my first full year in business and also the first year I had a Model Program. For 2016 I have a total of 7 beautiful girls. My goal this year was to keep my Model Program intimate and exclusive, just like I feel my brand is. I want the girls to truly have an experience they won't forget. Having less models allows me to spend more time with them individually and use them for more shoots during the year.
We all met at Blush Studio where my girls started with hair and makeup by the very talented Allison Johnson of PinkLouLou. She has been with me from the beginning and the girls just love her. I wanted each girl to have a slightly different look with their hair and makeup. I love love love Rent the Runway so I decided to rent clothing for the girls. Maria's gold romper is to DIE for! The gold dress Katie is wearing is part of my Studio Collection. After hair and makeup was completed we did a few studio shots and then headed to Keeneland for some fun outside shots, and by fun I mean freezing. There was still snow on the ground!
I am so grateful for such an AMAZING group of girls. God has truly blessed my business and I am forever grateful. If you are a junior or a senior and want to book a session with BKP send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. My goal as a senior photographer is to make my girls have an experience that they will never forget!
Kristin and David
The Josephina Event Venue
Dresses: Rent the Runway
Hair: Rebecca Cowan and Kelsey Gates
2nd shooter: Scott Hayes of Scott Hayes Weddings
Almost 2 years a go I remember my husband coming home after a day of working and telling me that David was going to propose to his sister. I was SO excited. And then he told me that David wanted me to capture the proposal on camera. I immediately accepted but inside I was DYING with nervousness. Everything went smoothly of course and they planned to marry on New Years Eve 2014.
The wedding was stunning. Every detail was thoughtfully planned out by the bride herself, from the gorgeous Rent the Runway dresses to all the sweet DIY touches she added to her wedding day. It was a frigid and sunny day, but everything went off without a hitch and Kristin and David were married by the same pastor who married my husband and I.
The Josephina is such a stunningly quaint venue in Dryridge, KY. The barn adds this beautiful natural light and they have all kinds of little lights added to give it a warm glow. I am grateful to have helped photograph my sister's wedding day and happy to gain a brother in law! A huge thanks to Scott Hayes who diligently helped me all day long, catching such amazing little detail shots and really taking a weight off my shoulder. Most people don't know that I actually have more wedding experience than just about anything else since I started working with Scott back in 2011! I am grateful to him for teaching me and allowing me to follow him. I have learned so much! He is a wedding videographer by trade and is simply amazing.
